Rory McIlroy won a play-off to seal triumph in the Visit Title and take the $10m (£7.7m) FedEx Container prize.

The Northern Irishman, 27, came in a birdie from 15 feet to push out Ryan Moore on the fourth play-off gap to win the $1.5m (£1.15m) competition.

The world number three's triumph was sufficient to see him beat US Open champion Dustin Johnson to the FedEx Glass, the PGA Visit's season-long focuses race.

Johnson completed seven shots off the lead at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta.

McIlroy and Moore hit last cycle 64s to set up a three-path play-off with Moore's kindred American Kevin Chappell, who posted a 66.

Both McIlroy and Moore birdied the principal play-off opening at 18, yet the Ulsterman was unfortunate to see his falcon putt hit the lip taking after a splendid second shot to inside six feet.

With Chappell wiped out, McIlroy and Moore each took standard following a second outing down the eighteenth, and on the third play-off opening at 15, preceding McIlroy birdied the sixteenth to win the tenth version of the FedEx Container.
