Lawyers representing Senate President, Bukola Saraki today, November 5, 2015, walked out of his ongoing trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) to register their anger at the proceedings.  Saraki’s counsel abandoned the case after the tribunal ruled that the Senate President’s trial must continue despite a pending appealThe walk-out was announced by one of the lawyers, Mahmud Magaji (SAN) on behalf of Saraki’s legal team. Magaji further described the tribunal’s ruling as judicial rascality. The CCT has adjourned the case till November 19.

Senate President, Bukola Saraki is set to appear before the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) today, November 5, 2015, for the continued hearing of the corruption case against him. Saraki has been accused of 13 counts of asset declaration fraud by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB). The CCT had, on October 21, adjourned the case  till today to allow the Court of Appeal make its ruling on the matter. Saraki had approached the court to challenge the jurisdiction of the CCT to try him.The Appeal Court however ruled in favour of the tribunal » hence the Senate President’s trial is expected to continue. It has been reported that 5 people were killed, while N4.4m was recovered from a armed robbery attack that took place in Edo state yesterday, November 4.robbers reportedly raided two banks and killed five persons including policemen in Igarra, headquarters Akoko-Edo local government area. The robbers stormed Igarra with several vehicles, first attacking the police station in the area where they killed a policeman and looted its armoury.Other members of the gang were said to have simultaneously attacked the two banks where they killed a policeman and three civilians. Local vigilante groups reportedly joined in the shoot-out and blocked all routes to Igarra town which made the robbers abandon the vehicles used for the operation. Gov. Dave Umahi of Ebonyi, says his government pays N100 million monthly as pensions and gratuity to retired workers in the state. The governor made the statement on Wednesday in Abakaliki while swearing-in the reconstituted nine-member Local Government Area Staff Pension Board. The board, chaired by Mrs Lilian Nwankwo, Chairperson, Local Government Area Service Commission, had the chairmen of two LGA caretaker committee as members. Umahi said that the government contributed N24 million to LGA staff pension board in addition to the monthly salaries it paid to workers. "This situation has been tasking on the government and has made us to consider establishing the State’s Staff Pension Board. "We have directed the State Civil Service Commission to review the issue, consult civil servants and ascertain their willingness to participate in the proposed state’s pension scheme. The Department of Petroleum Resources, Ibadan field office, on Wednesday in Ibadan sealed over 50 filling stations across the state for various offences. The DPR Operations Controller, Mr Olakunle Ogunlana, said the sealing and the sanction was because some independent fuel marketers in the state were selling fuel above the government-approved pump price of N87. He listed the affected filling stations as Fatoil at Sango-Eleyele road, Romkol Global Oil, Apete and Solace Global Resources Limited, Apete. Others are Mericom Business Heritage, Arola,Towafad Interbiz limited, Arola and Gilog Oil Nigeria Limited and Muhatorm Petroleum Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited, in Awotan-Iludun.
