Central Bank Bars Nine commercial banks from Foreign exchange Transactions

Nigeria Apex Bank,The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has barred nine commercial banks from participating in all foreign exchange transactions and operations. According to the apex bank, the commercial banks werebarred following their failure to remit into the Treasury Single Account the sum of$2.12 billion belonging to the nation’s oil corporation, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).‎The nine banks comprise of three tier-one lenders and another six tier-two deposit money banks. All the banks remain barred from foreign exchange operations until they fully remit the NNPC funds into government coffers via the Treasury single account.

The move by President Muhammadu Buhari to secure emergency powers aimed at addressing the nation’s economic crisis may not see the lightof the day, as senators yesterday rejected the proposed bill, saying Buhari was seeking to transform himself into a tyrant and would foist a dictatorship on the nation. The bill entitled, “Emergency Economy Stabilisation Bill 2016”, will be sent to the National Assembly by the president upon resumption from its summer vacation and after the Eidel Kabir holidays. However, given the reaction of some senators to the proposed emergency powers being sought by Buhari through the bill, the legislation may be thrown out.Several senators, who spoke to THISDAY monday, vehemently kicked against it, adding that it was “dead on arrival”.According to the senators, who did not want to be named, some of the provisions in the bill were unnecessary, describing it as nothing more than a subtle way of avoiding counterpart funding by the Buhari administration.Accord

The management and staff of Abdu Gusau Polytechnic,Talata Mafara in Zamfara state have shut down the school due to religious crisis. According to reports, fighting began when a student said to be a christian, made a blasphemous comment about Prophet Muhammad.Angry Muslim faithfuls descended on him, beating him and destroying properties within the school premises. Security agencies have been drafted in to maintain law and order while the students in the school premises have been asked to leave the campus immediately.

The red flag with its blue X holding white stars hung over the shoulder of a White Lives Matter member who was joined by others in his group in a protest against the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People."We came out here to protest against the NAACP and their failure in speaking out against the atrocities that organizations like Black Lives Matter and other pro-black organizations have caused the attack and killing of white police officers, the burning down of cities and things of that nature," White Lives Matter member Ken Reed said. Toddler found tied to wire fencer with a Bungee cord in Washington

Mr Knight A Little Child was found tied to a wire fence with a bungee cord around the neck by a concerned neighbor.The child was discovered by Matt Knight, who lives in the Nevada Lidgerwood area in Washington. He was mowing his lawn when he heard screams from across the street. He then found the little girl strapped to a metal gate and 'struggling around her neck'.A woman claiming to be the child's mother told KHQ that the youngster had become tangled up in the cords - but would not elaborate on why the child was out of the house alone. Neighbor Matt Knight found the toddler strapped to the metal fence with a cord round her neck in the Nevada Lidgerwood neighborhood. Police have been called to the house onthree separate occasions when the child was left unattended and seen crawling in the streets alone.Recalling the distressing scene, Mr Knight told KHQ: 'I walked over there and the kid, like the photo you saw, was strapped or caught up in some of the bungee
