House of Reps call for State of Emergency in the Aviation Sector
ABUJA-APPARENTLY disturbed by the poor state of the aviation sector,concerned Members of Parliament have called on the Federal Government to declare state of emergency in the nation’s aviation sector, in order to salvage the $12 billion projected investment and 159,000 jobsprovided across the value chain.Chairman, House Committee on Aviation Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, made the plea while briefing on “the impact of economic recession on Nigeria’s aviation sector,” held at the instance of the leadership of the House of Representatives.She underlined the contribution of the aviation sector to the country’s GDP in recent years, noting that the prospects of the sector playing a major role in national economic development and growth in the near future were promising.
