Nigerian prisons Authority denies Charles Okah escape
The Nigerian Jails Administration has denied
reports that the associated driving force with
the 2010 Autonomy Day bombings,
Charles Okah, has gotten away from Kuje
Jail in Abuja.
refering to a report distributed by Sahara
Correspondents, had reported that Okah scaled the
jail dividers
on Friday, June 24, around 7.30
pm.
The representative to the Jail Administration, Francis
Enobore, however rejected the report, yet
conceded that there was an "occurrence" accepted
to be an escape on Friday night.
"It is not valid (that he got away)," he told
Premium Times.
"He is there (Kuje jail) robust and generous. The
representative of detainment facilities accountable for the FCT was
there under 30 minutes prior and he saw him
there. I addressed the controller."
Enobore said Okah was not included in the
Friday escape at the Kuje Jail.
"Yes there was an occurrence yesterday, however Henry
Okah was not included. The Comptoller of penitentiaries
has requested an examination and that is going on.
We need to know whether anyone got away and if yes,
what are their personalities," he said.
The representative said he would give points of interest upon
finish of preparatory examination.
