Africa Fashion Week Nigeria 2016 Yemi Alade unveiled as ambassador for this year's edition
The singer was unveiled at a press breakfast meeting organized by the AFWN/L team at
Samantha's Bistro in Ikoyi earlier today 26th April 2016.
An elated Yemi Alade who revealed the announcement was unexpected spoke about her love for fashion in addition to her music and hinted at a possibility of her first ever showcase for a Yemi Alade collection at the 2016 Africa Fashion Week Nigeria revealing there's something in the works with designers she's working with.

" I didn't see it coming but it's a stepping stone fashion wise " Yemi Alade added, It's " an opportunity to show people what I'm about" She revealed she might unveil something at the fashion week but kept the details close to her chest! She however revealed she's been " working on the collection for almost a year and most possibly infuse other designers in the showcase".
Ronke Ademiluyi the founder of Africa Fashion Week Nigeria and London started the fashion event in 2011 (in London where she kicked off the
AFWN edition in 2014). Creating the fashion showcase in Nigeria for fresh faces, she stressed that not everyone designer have the means to come to London to showcase.
She revealed that a lot of young designers have been promoted and exported through the platform that seeks to put their names out via a platform that nurtures their creativity.
The creative director Sola Oyebade shared expectations for the year stating a lot of interesting line ups are in place from the creative and unique stage design which he revealed have inspired a lot of fashion events across Africa.
For 2016, he said there would be five (5) different shows, brand new designers will showcase for the first time as well as more designers will have the opportunity to break into the industry and gain a bigger platform.
Abiola Aloba Co-ordinator of AFWN/L shared his excitement about promising emerging talents discovered each year while adding that some designers are " extraordinarily good but don't have the means to show their talents" and AFWN creates the perfect platform for them.
