Premier League Liverpool held by West Brom, Tottenham beaten by Newcastle United

Liverpool were held to a 2-2 draw at home to West Brom while Tottenham's unbeaten run ended with a 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United at While Hart Lane in Premier League matches played on Sunday, December 13. The Reds started their game brightly as they hosted West Brom at Anfield. In Dublin Man attack female judge in court after disagreeing with her ruling

Justice Miriam Walsh got the shock of her life after a suspect she was presiding on his case attacked her in court. Express Uk reported that Miriam Walsh was beaten blue black by her attacker, she was repeatedly punched in the face by the suspect before help could get to her. The former National Chairman of the PDP, Dr Okwesilieze Nwodo, has urged Nigerians to have faith in President Muhammadu Buhari and give him time to implement his campaign promises. Nwodo told newsmen in Umuahia that the president needed time to formulate policies and execute programmes to tackle the myriads of socio-economic challenges currently plaguing the nation. He said: "The president came in with tremendous goodwill. It’s not easy in the Third World for an opposition party to defeat a sitting government. "So for Buhari to have done that shows the measure of goodwill he came to office with. ‘’Secondly, I believe that what he promised our people was something that was timely; I’m of the PDP but that government had reached a point of impunity. "The level of impunity is being shown by the investigations that are going on indicating that we needed somebody who promised us that he was going to fight corruption and to bring sanity to government expenditure. ...

Davido Tanzanian model denies rumours of pregnancy with singer

Following rumours that Nigerian singer Davido is about to father another child, the Tanzanian model, Agnes Masogange, has come out to clear the air on the issue... Agnes had deleted photos she posted on Instagram indicating she was carrying the singer's baby. She then quickly followed it with a photo of her with who she's claiming to be her baby daddy. NNPC Corporation plans to privatise pipelines

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has revealed that it will privatise crude-oil pipelines to enable the corporation fund its Joint Venture partnerships between international oil companies (IOCs) in Nigeria. According to the minister of state for petroleum resources and group managing director of NNPC, Ibe Kachikwu, “The new model is that refineries would now buy their own crude oil, refine it and make remittances to the Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC). They would operate a semi autonomy system that would enable them to run in a profitable manner." He also said “I will engage the IOCs to stand up and get counted in the area of best environmental practices in 2016. This initiative would help the IOCs to maintain a cordial relationship with the communities where they operate and the communities too would be satisfied with the efforts at the end of the day." “Beast of No Nation” Movie starring Idris Elba to show in Nigeria

“ Beast of No Nation » ” is set to make its debut in Nigerian cinemas. According to Nollywood Access, the film will hit the big screens this Friday, December 11, 2015. The movie insider revealed that this offering was made courtesy of Silverbird Distribution. “Beast of No Nation” was released on October 16 via streaming service Netflix. The movie starring British actor Idris Elba » was directed by Cary Fukunaga.  The war drama film is based on the 2005 novel of the same name by Uzodinma Iweala » . French publication, ‘MCM ’ reveals that the mother of one is on her way to Louisiana in preparation for her new video shoot beginning December 14. The publication has shared that one of their “sources” had been asked to star in the new visuals which they speculate may be for the first single, lifted from her LP. The milestone is set to mark the beginning of her newest contract with Columbia Records . Quoting the publication, they posted: "According to our source, the interpreter of Drunk in Love will move into the state of Louisiana from December 14 (start date of shooting) to stay until 20 the same month." Even more interesting is the fact that the songstress has asked French choreographer, Zack Reece, to help with scouting out extras on Facebook.

Amnesty International Agency says 12,000 refugees stranded on Jordan-Syria border

Amnesty International said on Wednesday in London that 12,000 Syrian refugees are stranded and "struggling to survive" in freezing temperatures on the border with Jordan. It called on the Jordanian government to take immediate action to help them. Sherif Elsayed-Ali, Deputy Director of Global Issues at Amnesty International, stressed that the refugees, including children and pregnant woman that are in urgent need of medical attention, were left in "no man's land" after they were refused entry to Jordan. "As the conflict in Syria continues, it is critical that Jordan, and Syria's other neighbouring countries, keep their borders open to those fleeing bloodshed or persecution. "By denying sanctuary to civilians seeking safety on their soil, the Jordanian authorities are fuelling a humanitarian disaster on their doorstep," he said. In Bayelsa PDP hints on alleged plans to disrupt peace in the state

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa on Wednesday raised the alarm, alleging that some politicians and groups planned to breach the existing peace in the state. Chief Jonathan Obuebite, Director of Publicity of Gov. Seriake Dickson Campaign Organisation, alleged that All Progressives Congress (APC) members were preparing for a violent protest in the state. In a statement, the organisation in collaboration with PDP, called on Bayelsa people, particularly small business entrepreneurs to beware of the protest as the protesters had specific instructions to unleash violence on the streets of Yenagoa. Angry lecturers of Olabisi Onabanjo University, under the aegis of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) took to protests over failure of the state government to pay their salary arrears for 16 months. They lamented an alleged poor funding of the university and the state of infrastructure in the institution, insisting that most of its buildings and laboratories were dilapidated and the university also lack equipment for practicals, The Guardian reports. They have threatened an indefinite strike after their Congress scheduled to hold this week. According to ASUU, the strike will be “total, comprehensive and indefinite, it shall remain in force until the State government takes concrete and sustainable steps to address their demands”. The protesters began their demonstration at the University's mini-campus, Ago-Iwoye at about 12 noon and took their protest outside the university gate moving in procession along the Ita-Merin-Igan road areas to sensitize the students an...

Minister of Interior, retired Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau, has assured foreign investors of adequate security and the enabling environment for business in Nigeria. The Minister gave the assurance when the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Gu Xiaojie, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja on Tuesday. Playwright and Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka in an interview, revealed that he supported President Muhammadu Buhari during the elections, adding that he does not regret taking that decision.
