Gwen Jorgensen becomes first U.S woman to win gold in Triathlon at Olympics

Gwen has made history.....indeed she's a Queen




   Gwen Jorgensen, 30, officially became the first U.S. woman to take home the gold medal in the triathlon on Aug. 20.

Gwen Jorgensen, has won all but two individual races in the past two years  and this one may  her  biggest achievement in her career. The woman from Wisconsin  became the first U.S. woman to win gold in the sport, that actually was just added to the Olympics in 2000.She completed the course in one hour, 58 minutes and 16 minutes. Silver went to Nicola Spirigfrom Switzerland, the gold winner four years ago  she was 40 seconds behind the gold winner.

 Vicky Holland from Great Britain took home the bronze was only five seconds behind Nicola.When crossing the finish line, Gwen had a huge smile on her face and immediately began to cry..

She’s won all but two individual races in the past two years and have broken 13 ,yes 13 consecutive victories and won the ITU World Triathlon Series Championship titles in both 2014 and 2015. Four years ago at the 2012 Olympic Games, she suffered a flat tire and landed in 38th place. For nine months of the past year, Gwen lived in Vitoria, Spain and Wollongong, Australia for training.”We are incredibly proud to have Gwen as part of Team Oakley,” said Cuan Peterson, Oakley’s Vice President of Sports Marketing about the representative. 

“Her performance today is a testament to her dedication to the sport and desire to re-define what is possible.”
