In Malaysia Nigerian student caught with 20kg drugs

The drugs, smuggled from China via courier service, was meant for distribution to the local addict population. Following a police raid at a house in Bukit Mahkota Cheras, the parcels of drugs were found hidden in a portable air-conditioning to prevent detection by the authorities.

"We have arrested the 27-year-old man and seized 21 packets of drugs believed to be syabu," A police spokesperson told reporters at a press conference on Thursday.
"The drugs, weighing about 20.8kg, were stashed in a hidden compartment in the machines. Initial investigations revealed the suspect had brought the drug into the country from China, using a courier service company,"
"The suspect had just started trafficking in drugs in Malaysia about nine months ago and we are still tracking down the remaining members of the syndicate. The drug can meet the demand of 35,000 addicts for a month," he said.
The culprit is being held under Section 39B of the
Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.

Four Feared Dead in Ivory Coast Crash.

A cargo plane has crashed into the sea off Ivory Coast, close to Abidjan airport, killing four people and injuring six. The wreckage of the turboprop plane, which was carrying ten people, was swept toward a beach where rescuers treated surviving crewmen on the sand. All four of the dead are Moldovan while four French nationals and two Moldovans were injured. Local police told AFP the aircraft had been trying to land when it crashed. According to local news site Ivoire Matin one person was taken into custody after the crash. It is unclear if they are a member of the crew. Reuters news agency reports that the plane crashed during a storm with heavy rain and lightning. The plane was a Ukrainian-made Antonov chartered by the French army as part of its anti-jihadist Operation Barkhane, a French military source told AFP
