Egyptian policemen slaughtered in trap south of Cairo
Eight casually dressed policemen in Egypt have been shot dead on the edges of the capital, Cairo, authorities say.
Their white police van was trapped in the early hours of Sunday morning in the southern area of Helwan.
Unidentified shooters in a truck splashed the vehicle with projectiles from programmed weapons, the inside service said.
No gathering has said it was behind the assault. Egypt's security strengths have been engaging Islamist viciousness lately.
Activists connected to alleged Islamic State have slaughtered several security work force in the Sinai Promontory since the military ousted Islamist President Mohammed Morsi in July 2013.
The extremists have as of late directed attempt at manslaughter assaults on police in Cairo and been behind little scale bombings in the city.
Examiners say criminal posses have been included in shootouts before however Sunday's shooting bore the signs of a jihadist assault.
Inhabitants told the local news office that the shooters, who fled after the assault, wore covers.
The policemen, who were watching the zone when the truck obstructed their way, incorporated a lieutenant and seven low-positioning officers, the inside service said.
